Adria stared at the bottle spinning on the bedroom floor and wished she didn't join tonight's slumber party. She couldn't help but give a sideways glance at her best friend, Sally, who was seated beside her while Pepper, her flaming auburn hair neatly tucked under a towel, was seated across them. She wore an expectant expression as the bottle slowed its rotation.
This can't be good. She thought and tried to be calm. Why do I ever get to be in this mess? Adria was continuing her mental monologue that she missed Pepper's question entirely when the bottle had finally stopped.
A nudge from Sally shook Adria out of her reverie. The blonde girl pointed.
Adria suppressed the urge to roll her eyes. Of course. "What was the question?"
Pepper cleared her throat. "It was love at first sight for you and Rick Lineheart?" Her voice was tentative that to Adria, she thought the other girl was afraid she would be responsible for breaking this new found friendship.
