Supernatural Six :Episode Mannequin 3: The Reckoning

If you've watched the previous rom-com movies (Mannequin, Mannequin 2: On the Move), you can bet Supernatural's version will not be tracking in the same vein. It started as your typical ghost possession case of inanimate objects, the mannequins.

The Vampire Diaries: Jenna

The episode: The Last Day,  I think everyone was reeling after watching the final scene.

Jenna barely  managed to wrap her head around the idea that vampires and werewolves do exist that she froze at the Salvatore's/ now Elena's safe house, when Damon and Stefan vamped-out for more than a brotherly brawl. Stefan got the end of a very large stick while Damon stormed out of the room. Yet, we saw her coping. Yay!

I was a little disappointed when they kept her  in the dark too long. I wasn't liking what Stefan said from Klaus episode that he'll explain everything (yet again) but he wasn't able to since Klaus took over Alaric's body so one thing led to another and then Elena said the same thing to Jenna. It was verging on  redundancy. I don't know if it was for mounting the suspense but I wish care was given more for building the reveal for Jenna.

So towards the end of the "The Last Day," we found out that Klaus was armed with at least three backup plans. What do you think of his turning Jenna into a vampire? I didn't feel the gravity of the situation or the direness of everyone's plight. Maybe the cliffhanger needed a suspenseful music to give atmosphere to the scene.   We'll all see next episode .

Favorite Hallmark TV Movie so far...

Next to The Love Come Softly Saga , Come Dance at My Wedding was a light and endearing movie that I hope I can find a copy.

Captain Power and the Soldiers of Future Returns...

....and will be released in DVD boxset! Finally after an eon or so of waiting, word trickled down to yahoogroup and  sent a lot of the fans very happy. I haven't updated my comments there yet, hope to do so soon.

Sharing Names

Still very much thinking about the book Dark Mirror by MJ Putney , I decided to check out other reviews from the same book via Google. On initial try, I forgot to add the author's name so  Mr. Google directed to  me a movie bearing the same name. View the Dark Mirror trailer, which stars Lisa Vidal with David Chisum. 


The trailer was creepy but not as creepy as the The Ring or the original version. I think I had a spare portable oxygen tank beside me when I was watching it.  I could practically feel my friends rolling their eyes when they saw it. :D  


Going back to the trailer, I was even prepared to jump out of my chair if something too terrifying was looking back at the mirror. No nothing what my imagination rolled out. Whew. I wonder if there's an available VCD copy of this at the mall.

Finding my book list...

Going back to The Broke and Bookish  I've stumbled upon their Dark Mirror's Review.  It piqued my curiosity reading halfway through the summary. The review was good too. I wish I could join the giveaway but as it is, I'm halfway across the globe. So I'll check if my fave book shop carries this title. Too bad I couldn't add this to my friend who's already buying two books for me.  :)

If the book cover doesn't grab at least a smidgen of your attention then maybe it's time to take off those jaded color shades for the moment and view the book in fresh eyes.

Another book "The Wizard Hunters" that has been sitting in my list is from author Martha Wells.  Ever since I've read Stargate Atlantis: Entanglement and Reliquary, I wanted to read more of her works and I'm also crossing my fingers the book shop carries this book. :) This will be another dip into the fantasy world. The first introduction was The Hobbit all the way through Return of the King. :D 

Top Ten Bookish Pet Peeves

In no way in any order....

1. Dog-eared, lined pages, missing pages or highlight passages. While it would be great to cite that memorable dialogue, it's unfortunate for the next reader to find that the ink from a felt pen made  a paragraph or two unreadable. I wish people would show care to a book as if it were their own, unless they practice the same thing to their own books.... *sigh* Lastly, if you have to remember where you left off, place a bookmark than fold that corner page. 
2. First person point of view.  It was too tiring to read.  
3. Verbose.  We poor readers need to be armed with pruning shears just to help us understand what's going on the book.
4. Too much techno-babble. It distract me to the story. 
5. Out-of-character.  Encountered one time in a TV tie-in book. I'm not sure how much creative leeway was given but the characters' voices weren't captured well on print. 
6. Too many characters. Apart from the principal ones and supporting, there are others running rampant. 
7. Slow scenes. I usually skip them.
8. Feels flat and looks flat. There were books that I wasn't drawn into the painted worlds of the characters.
9. Fine print. Blame it on staring at the computer for too long. Tsk. My eyes were never the same. 
10. Cover page. I would like to have some imaginative design going on the cover.
