The Art of The Hobbit By J.R.R. Tolkien

With  January nearing the end...belated Happy 2014! Hope January's been treating everyone just swell!

So after ending last year with The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, I was quite unprepared and thrilled at the same time what the second installment brought. Yes, I refrained from checking the Production Notes from TheHobbitBlog.

There were a lot of things going on and the second movie did beg for several more viewings unfortunately, I was unable to go back to the cinema. So I'll be patiently waiting for the extended versions from both films to grace the video display stands here soon.

I'm not a heavy Tolkienite but I do appreciate Prof Tolkien's amazing Middle-Earth and whenever I stumble upon a book (as the one pictured above) I'm likely to buy it. So my last Sunday book loot was "The Art of The Hobbit" by J.R.R Tolkien.  I haven't started reading it just browsed through the pages. It has a lot of the author's drawings and how he had already envisioned Shire and other notable places. When I have more time I'll take a couple of snapshots of what's inside.

Of course, while I was looking up a link for the "The Art of the Hobbit," this pops up and teases me.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Chronicles: Art and Design by WETA. Amazon wasn't giving out any inside look so I moused over to Weta's site store. :D You'll see the samples of what you'll find. Do click on the magnifying glass so you'll be able to appreciate the fine art works and images showcased inside the book.

With this resurgence of all things ME (Middle-Earth), it has made me unearth the magazines from the LOTR movies.

(L-R) Issues 1 thru 3
The first 4 issues of the magazines were already showing a bit of  care worn on the spines and on magazine front covers tho. This was my first time to join a fan club and man, I was blown how professional looking all the magazines and each issue packed with wonderful interviews and more behind-the-scenes.
(L-R) Issues 4 thru 6
It was worth asking my friend to enter electronically using her card (my bank was delayed in sending mine), so I paid her  the cash. haha Thanks dear! You know who you are! *wink*
(L-R) Issues 7 thru 9
So imagine when I do go on reading the next issues that haven't been removed from their sealed plastic covers.
(L-R) Issues 10 thru 12
 Handle with extreme care. :D
(L-R) Issues 13 thru 15

(L-R) Issues 16 thru 18
Why it took me long to read them? Well, back then I didn't want it to end. :D
