Music Monday: Nicholis Louw en Heinz Winckler - Living Next Door To Alice

My first introduction to Mr. Heinz Winckler music was way back 2001, (more or less) when I heard  "Chasing Shadows" which was included in the South African release of Disney's "Treasure Planet." I was able to buy a copy of his freshman album "One Step Closer" the following year after waiting with no such luck of any store carrying his album from where I'm from. My little review here. I may not have been able to get copies of his succeeding albums due to things that have cropped up over the years but hopefully when I'm able again, I'll check them out.

If you had ten copies of yourself....

From Writing Prompts

Hmm, If I had ten copies of myself to use today, what would I have them do?

First, it'll be unnerving and just like a scene in Harry Potter where members of the OTP took form of Harry to fool any of the Death Eaters. What they'll do:

1) Visited the set of The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey shooting around New Zealand and based from Quint of Aintitcool news  , they're somewhere Mangaotaki Rocks!

Monday Fix: Who You Really Are By Heinz Winckler

Monday Fix is a weekly meme that I started here several Mondays ago. This meme is anything really that gets you to start your day. It's either your fave coffee or tea blend, listening to your music of the day from your  list of fave music artists, your garden bloom, your fave TV show etc.

Today's pick is a song video of "Who You Really Are" by Heinz Winckler for the Swiss Eurovision Song Contest. I wish we can watch the show. If our cable provider didn't take out Sky News, it would have been  possible since I managed to watch Eurovision '96 (was it) when Boyzone entered a song entry for their Irish delegate. This was the only channel carrier with all things further Europe  (aside from BBC) or even M-Net Channel, which carried South African news and goings in that area. This was the channel station where I first heard of Heinz Winckler singing to Chasing Shadows. I've always enjoyed watching these programs since you can see see a lot of talent.

For some reason the video won't show up here so here's the link to the page

[Album Review] One Step Closer

Album Thoughts

The freshman album had a unified tone throughout which was interesting because even with the slower tempo songs, it still felt the songs were connected with the following song and so on. I don't think I've listened to something like this from my respective favorite artists from their own freshman albums. So that little difference made buying this album that cost me two arms and a leg (joke) and finding an appropriate courier to deliver it to me, worthwhile. Although after seeing my credit card bill afterward, I'd say, Ouch. Lolz.

The album gave me a tip of a diversified range of music styles to tickle my modest musical palate. I noticed that a soloist can easily have a signature prevailing in their tracks for this first outing, I didn't find it yet.  Maybe my ears are not that trained or I was practically in Cloud 9 every time I listened to this album. Anyway, just by the tracks, the vocals were varied that added flavor. It wasn't over the place too. I don't know if for his second and third album, his signature style of singing has exerted itself.

Rate: 5 mics out of five

The Tracks
Next Stop To Happiness   An upbeat song that suggested a person has been striving for all opportunities and finally it paid off and soon this individual was on the fast lane. This was the first song off the 12-track album.

The Way It Is   A mid-tempo song about love's dying embers and what it would take to keep it.
