Saturday Photo Hunt: The city where you live

For other participants, visit here.

I thought of taking some highlights seen around the little city. A little bit of history of where the name Calamba came from.

A statue of the woman carrying the earthen ware at the rotunda

From the city's history, during the Spanish times, a newly transferred Guardia Civil  was making his way around the town proper and chanced upon a woman carrying an earthen pot/stove  (kalan-banga) on her head as she made her way back home. The Guadia Civil asked the woman what was the name of the area in Spanish and unfortunately, due to those moments of getting lost in translation, the woman thought he was asking her what was she carrying so she replied "kalan-banga," and hastily left the man. So in time, kalan-banga became Calamba. I will have to re-shoot this statue from the pedestrian overpass to get more features in.

Photo hunt: A glimpse of You

Today's theme was to answer the photo question mentioned above and I selected the last meet and greet session with a1 last November 2012 in Cebu. You can find the other entries here.

A glimpse of my back. haha

I would have put a red arrow on where I was but my PS application got corrupted and I haven't had a chance to re-install it. Anyway, I had finished my turn on the stage when this was taken by the mall's official photographer. I'm the girl wearing the violet top (looking down at my camera) standing beside the guy in green shirt. :D

Saturday's Photo Hunt

Today, a different turn of photo hunt was suggested and I think it's a great challenge. This time around each week, we'll be presented a photo theme and the picture will answer the current photo theme. Easy? Let's see how I'll fare in the next few weeks. Haha

Theme for today is gathering. Others can be seen here.

Saturday Photo Hunt: New (Paint, location, rice chips)

Today's photohunt is New! Visit the others here.

Preparing a scene

Director (off camera): This won't do. We have the old and new meshed in this scene. We need old world feel.
Location scout (off camera) : We can photoshop later the green valve and anything else sticking out at post-production, sir.
Director sighs. (turns to the actors) Ben, Gwen, and Cheetarah and...action.

Sooo on other news.....

Chips made from Korean Rice

I went to the mall last week and found a new stall selling this Korean rice made chips. The plastic container had 100 pcs or so of chips and it was cheap. It sounds healthier too based from what the product person was sharing to me. I'll definitely go for another one next time I get to visit the mall.

Saturday Photo Hunt: Breakfast

Today's breakfast (brunch most likely) was Pancit Palabok and delicious vegetable spring roll  :D I took this with my camera phone so it's not the greatest of pics. lolz.

Photo-Hunt: Creative

Today's theme is Creative:

This was done last year (never mind the  incorrect camera date hahaa) and I sat trying to de-stress. I used some left over clay blocks and just on a whim worked on this little guy. :D  I think the feet needs to be smaller. :D

This was about three or four years ago after one of the super typhoon wake has flooded the basement. The microswitch installed has gone to fritzville and now, I was tasked to replace the unit on my OWN! Exciting and nervous at the same time. Too bad I didn't have hands-free phone then (someone took it) so I heavily relied on putting to memory what my dad told me after we talked on the phone! Kids DON'T attempt to fix any kind of wiring in the house. I've done this several times and it still gets me extra cautious. The black insulated wire is directly feeding from the main of the house. Not trusting by just switching off the fuses (haha), I practically plunged the house in darkness by every circuit box I could find at the house. I donned one of those headlamps and I was feeling like I was an archaeologist.  :D

Valentine gone awry

Gwen: Don't worry Ben, I'm sure Julie will come around.
Ben (as Ultimate Echo-echo): I think this balloon just shows how I'm feeling right now and I can't make it work. *sigh*

My friend and I will get to see our fave band A1 . We're hoping they'll be playing a couple of their new songs from their album even if this was a greatest hits concert. This is the first time for us to see two other main acts in the same night! This can be shallow for a lot of people but for now I like to be shallow. :D

From their Waiting for Daylight album
1) It Happens Every Day
2) Don't Wanna Lose You Again - which they got 2nd place at Eurovision 2010. Yay!
3) In Love and I Hate It
4) Bad Enough
5) Nothing in Common
6) Take You Home
7) Six Feet Under
8) Good Things Bad People
9) Perfect Disaster
10) The Life Could Have Been
