Follow Friday (22)

Follow Friday is hosted by Rachel of Parajunkie.com and Alison of Alison Can Read  If you want to join in the fun just head over the blogs mentioned above and start checking out the various answer for today's question:

Q: Have you bought a book BECAUSE of the bad review?

I read few reviews because it comes from a subjective source, what might be working for some, may not work for the next person. I also don't  want to get spoiled with any highlights or lows of the book. I rely heavily on the book's summary but okay fine, if a certain book strikes me that I need more what the summary can give me then I read just a couple of reviews. If one of those reviews contain a bad review  but it doesn't outweigh my own interest in purchasing the book, I'd buy the copy. Then I would sort of keep at the back of my head that particular section of the book as to why it didn't work for that reader and if it will affect me the same way. So far, most of the books I've chosen were mostly aligned to what I usually like to read.  :)

  1. The interesting thing about reviews is that they are so subjective! I have to read multiple reviews to make a decision about a book. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  4. Reading bad reviews can give a very interesting taste of what different people care about, too :)

  5. New follower from FF. Sure, I read reviews, but I don't let they don't affect me on whether or not I'll purchase the book. Every novel is like a different drop of rain, some more fresh than the others. But what joy it is to taste the variety.
